The leading American company in industrial automation, Rockwell Automation, is extending its manufacturing presence in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) area with the opening of a new plant in Chennai. It is anticipated that the calculated action will strengthen the company’s regional supply network and improve its capacity for international manufacturing.

The new facility will be situated in Oragadam, on the border of Chennai, and it will occupy 98,000 square feet. It will be constructed next to Rockwell’s CUBIC manufacturing plant, which it purchased in 2022 as part of its acquisition of CUBIC, a manufacturer of modular systems for electrical panel construction.

With plans for additional expansion, the facility, which is anticipated to operate in the first half of 2025, would initially employ 230 people. Because of its close proximity to the port and abundant local expertise, Chennai offers strategic advantages, according to Dilip Sawhney, Managing Director of Rockwell Automation India. “The location will also help us create synergies with our existing CUBIC facility and increase agility and productivity in the region,” Dilip added.

At its new plant in Chennai, the company will produce equipment that meets the highest standards possible for both local and international clients. Creating a robust supply chain in the APAC area is the main goal of this project. With its global headquarters located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the corporation employs about 29,000 individuals in 100 countries. With more than 4,000 workers, Rockwell operates manufacturing facilities like R&D and software development centers in Noida, Bengaluru and Pune, India.

The company aims to strengthen its position as a leader in the industrial automation market and take advantage of Chennai’s strategic advantages for its export and manufacturing operations.
